Andrew Flory is assistant professor of music at Carleton College. He teaches courses about rock, rhythm and blues, and jazz. He is an expert on the music of Motown. His book, I Hear a Symphony: Motown and Crossover R&B, is forthcoming from The University of Michigan Press. He is also co-author of the history of rock textbook What’s That Sound (W.W. Norton, 2015).
