During the Summer 2000 study at the Caldecott Tunnel, one of our goals was to capture the license plates of vehicles driving through the tunnel, in order to eventually correlate our data with details of the vehicle fleet. To this end, we hired a videographer, Jeff Piccinini,to film the traffic exiting the tunnel on four sampling days. In addition to this work, Jeff was intrigued enough by our study to make a short film about the research.

Click play on the "video screen" to the right to watch a Quicktime (14 Mb) movie about our Summer 2000 research at the Caldecott Tunnel. The film shows Deborah Gross, Julia Jarvis, Dave Suess, and Ellen Sukovich at the Caldecott Tunnel, in August 2000. The instrumentation all comes from the laboratory of Professor Kimberly Prather, and the film is ©Jeff Piccinini. If you don't have the Quicktime plugin installed, you can download it from the Apple website.

Note: the movie is ~11 minutes long, and may take a few moments to download completely. The black screen before hitting play is normal!

Here is a picture of film-maker Jeff capturing traffic. It's not surprising, given this task, that he needed something else to keep him occupied during the days he worked with us! We're very grateful that he took the time to make the movie!
